The Trump Administration has expressed doubts over Pakistan's intentions in arresting terrorist Hafiz Saeed, the mastermind of the 2001 Parliament attack and the 2008 Mumbai attack. A senior administration official said this ahead of Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan's US visit. He said previous arrests of the terrorist made no difference either to his activities or that of his outfit Lashkar-e-Taiba.
The official added, the US would press Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan to take irreversible action against terrorist and militant groups, and to
facilitate peace talks with the Taliban for an intra-Afghan dialogue. He ruled out lifting suspension of security aid to Pakistan unless the White House sees sustained, decisive and irreversible action against terrorist and militant groups.
The official said, US would encourage Pakistan to ease restrictions on trade transcending Pakistan between India and Afghanistan. He added, this would be a very positive step and will demonstrate Pakistan's commitment to a peaceful, prosperous South Asia.
