Solution to the ongoing Gulf crisis seems elusive ahead of the US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson's meeting today in Jeddah with four Arab countries - Saudi Arabia, Egypt, UAE and Bahrain.
In a joint statement yesterday they said that their present positioning will “continue until the Qatari authorities are committed to the implementation of the just and full demands that will ensure that terrorism, stability and security in the region are fully addressed.
Responding to the signing of a memorandum of understanding in the fight against the
financing of terrorism between the United States and the Qatari authorities yesterday, the joint statement said that this step is not enough and the four countries will closely monitor the seriousness of the Qatari authorities in combating all forms of financing, supporting and embracing terrorism.
Stating the reason for the present diplomatic row, the statement added that the measures taken by the four countries are the result of the continuous and diverse activities of the Qatari authorities in supporting terrorism and interfering in the internal affairs of other countries.
