US, South Korea scale back military exercise

The United States and South Korea have scaled down an annual joint military exercise, Foal Eagle,  scheduled for the spring of 2019.  

According to US Defence Secretary Jim Mattis, the move is to facilitate nuclear



talks with North Korea. 

Foal Eagle is the biggest of the regular joint exercises held by the allies and has always infuriated Pyongyang, which condemned it as preparations for the invasion.
