At least one person has been killed and six were injured when an Amtrak train, carrying Republican lawmakers, including House Speaker Paul Ryan, collided with a garbage truck in Virginia.
The train was carrying House and Senate Republicans to a retreat in West Virginia when the crash occurred.
According to
the Washington Post, none of the dozens of members of Congress aboard the train, or their accompanying family members and aides, were among the seriously injured.
"Today's incident was a terrible tragedy. We are grateful for the first responders who rushed to the scene and we pray for the victims and their families.
