On his third and final day in Armenia, Vice President Mohammad Hamid Ansari is scheduled to deliver a lecture at the Yerevan State University. Mr Ansari will also interact with the students there and will visit Institute of Saved Manuscripts. Later, before flying to Warsaw, Vice President will meet His Holiness Karekin II, the supreme patriarch and Catholicos of all Armenian.
Last evening, India signed three agreements in the field of cultural co-operation, youth affairs and peaceful use of space, with Armenia to further enhance the bilateral relations. This visit in the silver jubilee year of diplomatic relations with Armenia has given a new vigour and has opened new channels for high level talks between the two nations.
India and
Armenia have committed themselves to increase the bilateral engagement and have made avenues for future high level visits. As cultural relations between both the nations are age old, an agreement has been signed in this regard. On one hand where India looks at liberalizing its visa regime for them, Armenia on the other has invited Indian film industry to come and shoot at their locations, which will increase people to people contact.
Both countries have condemned terrorism and said, the world has to be in one voice on the issue of terrorism. Armenia has also promised to support India at UN Security Council non-permanent member seat. India is also looking at cooperation in the Eurasia Economic Union, for that strengthening ties with Armenia is strategic.
