Russian President Vladimir Putin has revealed new nuclear weapons which could hit any target around the globe with little chance of interception. He made the revelation yesterday as he laid out his key policies for a fourth Presidential term, ahead of the election on 18th of this month.
Video footage of the new weapons was projected behind him at a conference hall in the Russian capital, where Mr Putin spoke with legislators.
He said the missile could not be stopped by the US shield in Europe and Asia. Another weapon he discussed was a submarine launched, long-range missile capable of delivering a nuclear warhead.
During the two-hour televised speech, Mr Putin argued that Russia had reacted after years
of pleading with the US not to break away from anti-missile treaties.
Meanwhile, the Pentagon has brushed off Mr Putin's assertion of developing "invincible" missiles, claiming that the United States is fully prepared for anything that might come its way. Pentagon spokeswoman Dana White said the American people should rest assured that they are fully prepared and ready.
White House spokeswoman Sarah Sanders said, Russia has been developing destabilizing weapons systems for over a decade, in direct violation of its treaty obligations. She said US defense capabilities are and will remain second to none, and now because of the new defense budget of 700 billion dollars, US military will be far stronger than ever.
