Zakir Naik willing to come back to India only if Supreme Court ensures his safety

Radical Islamist preacher Zakir Naik said that he would be willing to come back to India if the Supreme Court gives a written assurance that he would not be arrested and jailed till he is actually convicted.

In a statement, Naik has said that he has trust in the Indian judiciary, he had no faith in the prosecution system.

Naik said “Despite allegations and complaints, there is not a single verdict against me in any court anywhere in India or the world. The recent history of India is replete with cases of Muslims being arrested and put in jail for 8-20 years before being declared innocent by the court. Knowing this record of the Indian agencies, I would not like to take the chance of ruining my life and my unfinished work”.

would soon be requesting the Interpol to issue a Red Corner Notice against the hate preacher after securing a non-bailable arrest warrant for a Rs 193 crore money-laundering case.

Zakir Naik has denied the allegations made by ED. Yesterday, the Malaysian government asserted that the country has the right to not extradite Zakir Naik if he feels that he wouldn’t be getting a fair trial in India. Naik has been granted permanent residency by the Malaysian government.

In an interview with the Week, Zakir Naik has said that he wouldn’t return to India as long as the BJP was in power and claimed that he would feel safe only if the Congress comes back. Days after the Easter Sunday bomb attack in Sri Lanka, the cable operators of the island country have also blocked Zakir Naik’s Peace TV.
