Five people were killed when a sports utility vehicle (SUV) in which they were travelling fell into a deep gorge at Dhaman in remote Chhota Bhangal region of Kangra district.

The incident occurred around 9pm on Friday, about 110 kilometers from district headquarters Dharmashala.

The deceased have been identified as Subhash Chand a resident of Trifalghat village of Sarkaghat Tehsil in Mandi district, Ajay Kashayp from Mandi town, Ashok Singh from Sujanpur Tira and Amit Sharma of Balokhar in Hamirpur



district.

One of the victim, Rohit Siwal, hailed from Shyamnagar, Tehsil Haapur of District Gaziabaad in Utter Pradesh.

The four youth from Himachal Pradesh worked as medical representatives in Mandi and Hamirpur districts and were on an excursion trip to Barot Valley of Mandi district with their Gaziabaad friend.

Kangra Superintendent of Police (SP) Sanjeev Gandhi told that prima facie the driver of the vehicle (HR 29AK 8001) lost control over the wheel on a sharp curve.
