Foreign links of Gurpreet Singh Sekhon, mastermind of last November’s Nabha jailbreak, came to fore during his interrogation on Monday, police said. “Hong Kong resident Rampreet Singh alias Romy was the facilitator with monetary help to execute the jailbreak,” said deputy inspector general (DIG) of police Ashish Chowdhary in Patiala.
“Punjab police will issue a red corner notice from the Interpol to nab Romy, who is a proclaimed offender in Punjab,”
said the DIG.
“The accused were not in direct touch with each other. They used to convey messages to each other through Romy.”
Romy had met Sekhon in the Nabha jail when he was behind bars in a credit card fraud case. He jumped bail in June 2016 and had fled to Hong Kong.
Sekhon, who had made several fake identity documents, including three Aadhar cards, was planning to flee to Hong Kong too with his family.
