New Delhi: Parents of an Indian girl married to a resident of Pakistan, appealed to Indian Minister of External Affairs Sushma Swaraj to intervene as she was allegedly ‘mentally and physically tortured’ and not allowed to return back to her home at Hyderabad.

Mohammedi Begum married Mohammed Younus in 1996 over telephone. She alleged that her husband initially claimed he is from Oman and when she visited him after marriage, it was only then she realised he is a resident of Pakistan. Since her marriage, she begot five children and had earlier this year posted a video on YouTube claiming harassment by her

husband.

Following this, reportedly, Majlis Bachao Tehreek (MBT) leader Amjed Ullah Khan appealed the intervention of Sushma Swaraj. Swaraj later took note of the situation and said steps will be taken for her smooth trip back to India.

Now after reassurance from the Ministry, her parents have alleged that her husband launched further torture upon her and is not allowing her to come back. So they have now released a YouTube video requesting the Minister’s help once again. “Her husband is torturing her and is refusing to send her back to India. She is being subjected to insults,” they said in the video.
