Ahead of his Dussehra rally, the Shiv Sena faction led by Uddhav Thackeray put up banners at Shivaji Park with Bal Thackeray’s photo. The banners read: ‘I will not allow Shiv Sena to become BJP's slave’.
The two factions of Shiv Sena- led by Uddhav Thackeray and Eknath Shinde- are scheduled to address the Dussehra rallies in Mumbai this evening. The rallies are being billed as a show of strength by the two camps following the split in June.
Earlier, Eknath Shinde, in a veiled dig at Uddhav Thackeray and his son Aditya Thackeray, tweeted a couplet by famous Hindi poet Harivansh Rai Bachchan.
The couplet read, "My son,
being my son will not be my heir, whoever will be my heir will be my son."
Meanwhile, the rivalry between the two factions spilled to the roads as a few supporters of Uddhav Thackeray-led Shiv Sena clashed with supporters of Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and his faction ahead of Dussehra rallies in Mumbai.
The incident took place on Nashik-Agra highway when a group of women Uddhav Sena supporters were on their way to Mumbai from Nashik to attend the rally. They alleged that Shinde group supporters made objectionable gestures while overtaking the bus they were travelling in. The Uddhav faction supporters then beat the Shinde group followers.
