Mysuru: The ten-day Mysuru Dasara festival will conclude today on Vijayadashami day with a grand Jumbo Savari procession. The Mysuru Dasara festival that attracted lakhs of visitors in the last nine days will conclude today with a grand procession called Jamboo Savari in Kannada.
Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai will offer puja to Nandi Dhwaja, the divine pole in the afternoon. 21 cannon shots will be fired. The procession led by Police band, cultural troupes, folk artists and singers, tableaux, decorated camels, horses and caparisoned elephants starts
from the palace when the Chief Minister will offer prayers and shower petals on Goddess Chamundeshwari idol in the evening. The idol of the Goddess is kept in a golden howdah weighing over 750 kgs on top of elephant Abhimanyu.
The Mysore kings used to sit in the howdah earlier. When the procession culminates in Bannimantap, puja is offered to the banni tree. After which torch light parade, fireworks and laser show will give the grand farewell to the Vijayadashmi festival in Mysuru tonight.
