In Chhattisgarh, 10 Naxals, including two women, surrendered in insurgency-hit Bijapur district yesterday. A senior police official said that the cadres turned themselves citing their disappointment with the the ideology of the outlawed CPI (Maoist).
One of the surrendered cadre Munna Hemla was carrying a reward of Rs 8 lakh on his head. Hemla was involved in Tadmetla
attack, in which 76 security personnel were killed in Dantewada district in 2010. Another equally hardcore cadre, Vijay Madvi and Ramlal Atami, were carrying a reward of Rs 2 lakh each on their heads. In their statement, the surrendered cadres claimed that provisions under surrender policy of Chhattisgarh government fascinated them to lay down their arms and join the mainstream.
