In Uttar Pradesh, a total of 1184 candidates have filed their nomination papers for the 73 seats of first phase of the State Assembly elections.​ 714 papers were filed today on the last day of the nomination of this phase. 
Chief Electoral Officer T Venkatesh said that 34 candidates have filed nomination, the largest in a constituency, NOIDA whereas Iglas and Dibai are the constituencies having least candidates with 7 each.The second highest number of



candidates was recorded 33 in Agra South seat while Sahibabad was 28 with third highest nominations. He also said that there are 36 Vidhan Sabha constituencies from where more that 15 candidates have filed their nominations in the first phase.
For the 67 seats of second phase, a total of 191 papers have been filed till the fifth day of nomination. Ten persons filed their papers for the third phase of election for which notification was issued on 24th January.
