13 people died in tragic accident in Kushinagar, UP

In Uttar Pradesh, 13 people including 11 women and 2 children died in a tragic accident in Kushinagar district yesterday evening.

The accident happened in Nebua Naurangia village where women and children in large numbers were participating in a marriage ritual.

They were sitting on a cement slab that was used to cover an old well. Slab broke all of sudden and they all fell into the well. DM S Rajalingam told media persons that debris of the slab fell over the women and children into the well.

Police reached at the spot and



rescue operation continued till late at night. Injured have been admitted to the hospital and two children are in serious condition.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has said, the accident which took place in Kushinagar district of Uttar Pradesh is heart-wrenching. In a tweet, Mr Modi said that the local administration is engaged in providing all possible help.

The Prime Minister also expressed his deepest condolences to the families of those who have lost their lives in the accident and prayed for speedy recovery of the injured.
