In Jammu & Kashmir, the 14th batch of Amarnath pilgrims left for Kashmir Valley from Jammu this morning amid tight security arrangements.According to police sources the batch consisting of 3500 pilgrims left from Bhagwati Nagar Jammu base camp, in a cavalcade at around 3:30 am this morning. On the 14th day of the ongoing Yatra yesterday more than ten thousand yatris paid obeisance at the Holy Cave.
Cumulatively, since the beginning of the pilgrimage on June 29 about 01 Lakh 68 thousand Yatris had darshan of ice lingam till last evening.
Union Minister of State for Home Hansraj Ahir during his Srinagar visit declared that
after the unfortunate loss of life and injuries to the Yatris in the Monday attack, the entire security apparatus has been put on high alert. He said instructions have been issued to strengthen Road Opening Party, network till late hours on Yatra route.
The 40 day annual Amarnath Yatra is in progress from both Baltal route in central Kashmir and Pahalgam route in south Kashmir.
A multi-layered security arrangement is already in place that is manned by the Army, para military and the state Police. The Yatra will conclude on 7th August, coinciding with Raksha Bandhan festival.
