In Uttarakhand, 15 people are feared killed in a landslide triggered by cloudburst in Malpa and Mangti areas of Dharchula tehsil in Pithoragarh district yesterday.
According to the latest reports, 5 bodies including a woman have been recovered from the debris and 10 other people are reported missing.Those missing include one JCO and 5 Jawans of the Army and 4 locals. Besides, 5 persons including one JCO and 3 Jawan of Army and 1 local who sustained minor injuries have been rescued. In addition to this, 24 mules and 16 goats have been lost in the flash floods. 4 shops and 2 army vehicle have been washed away.
Meanwhile Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat
undertook aerial survey of the affected yesterday. He said that secretary, disaster management has been asked to chalk out a working plan to find solution to problems such as landslides in the highly sensitive areas of Dharchula and Munsyari tehsils.
The state government has deployed a helicopter for relief and rescue operation in the affected area. Army, ITBP, SSB, SDRF, Police and revenue teams are engaged in search and rescue operation.
Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh spoke to Chief Minister over phone regarding relief and rescue work in the affected areas. The home minister assured all possible help will given to speed up the rescue work.
