Union Minister of State for Railways V. Somanna has reviewed railway projects in Shivamogga district, Karnataka. He informed the media that under the Amrit Bharat Station Modernisation Scheme, 15 railway stations in the Mysore division will be upgraded at a total cost of 385 crore rupees.
Key projects in Shivamogga district include the new Shivamogga-Shikaripura-Ranibennur railway line. A coaching depot will be set up at Koteganguru. The railway line between Birur and Shivamogga Town will be doubled. Moreover, a world-class goods shed will be
developed at Shivamogga.
Mr. Somanna also noted several additional requests. These include redeveloping Bhadravathi railway station under the Amrit Bharat Station scheme, upgrading Kumsi railway station, and constructing the new Talaguppa-Honnavar line. He also mentioned plans to introduce a new Vande Bharat Express train between Shivamogga Town and Bengaluru. Additionally, there are requests to increase the frequency of trains and extend various train routes passing through Shivamogga.
