Sixteen people have died and twenty-one others were injured in a landslide that occurred at Khalapur tehsil in Raigad district of Maharashtra on Wednesday night. Four teams of the National Disaster Response Force were deployed in the rescue operation. The rescue operation was called off in the evening due to heavy rainfall and the threat



of further landslides. It will resume today morning.
 
Chief Minister of Maharashtra Eknath Shinde visited the site and took stock of the rescue operation. The Chief Minister has announced a compensation of Five Lakh rupees for the families of the deceased.
