In the Kashmir Valley, a 19-member Parliamentary Standing Committee visited Budgam yesterday to take stock of the developmental scenario in the rural pockets of the district.
Mr Prataprao Jhadhav, Chairman of the Committee said that Rural Development has the potential to emerge as an engine of development for rural areas and uplift the image of Rural India. He added that Panchayat Raj Institutions play a pivotal role in formulation and implementation of people oriented projects.
During the interaction session, the Parliamentary Committee had discussion with DDC’s and BDC besides other PRI representatives. The Chairman emphasized upon the critical role of PRI functionaries in development and reiterated its support whenever required. He added that every person in every village should be benefitted directly or
indirectly through Centrally-sponsored schemes related to rural development and the unnecessary hurdles in implementation of Rural Development schemes need to be curbed.
He maintained that the need of the hour is to show dedication and commitment in smooth implementation of rural schemes.
Mr. Jhadav reiterated that the aim and objective of visiting areas of Budgam is to inspect projects and have first-hand status of implementation of Schemes and Plans which the Department of Rural Development has initiated with regard to development of villages and other remote rural areas.
The Chairman said, judicious use of funds provided by the Central Government through RDD had the potential to change diversity of any area through its vast scope.
