Kadir Ahmed, an accused in the 1993 Mumbai serial blasts, was on Saturday arrested in his native district Bijnore.
He was nabbed after a joint operation by the Uttar Pradesh Anti-Terror Squad and the Gujarat Anti-Terror Squad, a police spokesperson said.
Ahmed is an accused under TADA (Terrorist and Disruptive Activities Prevention Act). He is alleged to have played a role in the landing
of weapons and explosives in Jamnagar, Gujarat supplied by Tiger Memon for the blasts.
Memon is one of the alleged prime mastermind of the devastating attacks that left more than 250 persons dead.
“UP ATS and Gujarat police are questioning Kadir Ahmed,” said Aseem Arun, Insoector General, UP ATS. The police said the accused would be taken to Gujarat on a transit remand.
