The 19th Kargil Vijay Diwas celebrations began at the Drass War Memorial in Jammu and Kashmir this morning. 17 war heroes, including Colonel Sachin Nimbadkar Veer Chakra and Colonel Dr Rajesh Adau, paid tributes to the War Heroes by laying wreath at the memorial in Kargil town. Various cultural programmes have also been organised.
Tomorrow, programmes like briefing on Operation Vijay Battles and Laser
Show will be held. The main function of wreath laying ceremony will take place on Thursday, the final day of celebrations.
The Kargil Vijay Diwas is celebrated every year for three days till 26th July to commemorate India's emphatic victory against Pakistan. It remembers the supreme sacrifice of 500 heroes who laid down their lives and those who are still alive.
