In Kerala, the first phase of local body elections witnessed high polling of 72.56 per cent. In the first phase, 5 districts went to polls. 

Alapuzha district had recorded the highest polling percentage  of 77.11 per cent and Thiruvananthapuram the lowest with 69.61 per cent. Kollam



district recorded a polling  of 73.28 per cent, Pathanamthitta 69.68 per cent, and 74.79 per cent in Idukki. 

The second and third phase of local polls are scheduled on 10th and 14th of this month. Counting is on the 16th of this month.
