In Uttar Pradesh, week long first session of Uttar Pradesh newly elected 17th legislative assembly will start today. This session is convened for passage of UP GST bill amongst others. GST Bill, which has already been cleared by Parliament and now requires passes of state GST bills to notify rule and regulations by the respective state governments for its pan-India implementation from July 1, this year.
The UP cabinet had on May 2 approved proposal pertaining to the implementation of GST in state. Governor Ram Naik will address joint sitting of legislature -Legislative assembly and Legislative council, at 11 AM today. This is maiden session of the Sri Yogi led BJP government after it came to power with more than two third majority in recent assembly
election in March this year.
This is for The first time when house proceedings will go live on Television, and this responsibility is entrusted on Doordarshan. The decision was taken in a meeting of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and Assembly speaker Hriday Narayan Dexit yesterday. CM Yogi Adityanath said that people also should directly see the activities of their elected representatives in house. Sri Dexit called a all party meeting for smooth running of house yesterday and appealed for cooperation.
The session may remain stormy as opposition mainly SP and BSP is all set to corner the government on the issues of law and order including others. Meanwhile treasury benches has also discussed to counter the onslaught of opposition.
