At least two soldiers were killed and one injured after a suspected improvised explosive device (IED) went off in the Akhnoor sector in Jammu and Kashmir on Tuesday, said the Indian Army.
The blast took place at 3:30 pm near the LOC where the army personnel were conducting a patrolling operation.
All three soldiers were rushed to a nearby hospital in a critical state where two of them, including a captain, lost their lives.
Confirming the incident, the Jammu-based White Knight Corps unit of the Indian Army, in a
post on X, said, “Suspected Improvised Explosive Device blast reported in #Laleali in #Akhnoor Sector during a fence patrol resulting in two fatalities. Own troops are dominating the area and search #operations are underway. The White Knight Corps salutes and pays tribute to the supreme sacrifice of two gallant soldiers."
Following the blast, more troops have been mobilised to launch a massive search operation along the Line of Control. One injured soldier has been airlifted to a nearby Army Hospital for treatment and is currently out of danger, said an army official.
