A special National Investigation Agency (NIA) court hearing the 2008 Malegaon bomb blast case will start recording the testimonies of witnesses from December 3. Six people were killed and over 100 injured when an explosive device strapped on a motorcycle went off near a mosque in Malegaon, a town located about 200 km from here in north Maharashtra, on September 29, 2008.
All the seven accused,
including Lt Col Prasad Purohit and Sadhvi Pragya Singh Thakur, are facing trial for charges under the stringent Unlawful Activities Prevention Act (UAPA) and the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
Special court judge Vinod Padalkar had on October 30 framed charges in the case against all the seven accused for terror activities, criminal conspiracy and murder, among others.
