Karnataka is grappling with its worst dengue outbreak in a decade with 24,521 cases reported as of Thursday. Despite ongoing efforts by authorities to control the spread, the disease has claimed 12 lives across the state this year. The Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) zone alone has reported 11,219 cases, with 32 people hospitalised.
The state currently has 1,358 active dengue cases, with 245 new cases reported
in the last 24 hours. Among the new cases, five are infants under one-year-old, and 100 are children aged between one and 18 years. 140 cases involve adults above the age of 18.
In July, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah reviewed the situation when the state recorded 7,362 cases. He directed officials to eliminate mosquito breeding sites and ordered that all hospitals allocate at least 10 beds specifically for dengue patients.
