24X7 quality, reliable & affordable power supply is necessary for India to become developed nation: R K Singh

New Delhi: Union Power Minister R. K. Singh has said that 24X7 quality, reliable and affordable power supply is necessary for India to become a developed nation. Mr Singh said this while chairing the two-day review, planning and monitoring meeting with States and State Power Utilities in New Delhi yesterday.

 

He stated that investments in the electricity generation was necessary to meet the increasing demand for electricity in the country. Mr Singh said, smart pre-paid metering is the only



solution to overcome the issues of delayed billing and inadequate payments.

 

The Minister reiterated the importance of viability in power sector to attract investment in the sector. Mr Singh said, the collective effort from all the stakeholders, including state and central government, and industry will ensure seamless transition towards an economically viable and environmentally sustainable Power Sector in the country.
