The government yesterday said 26 Primary Agriculture Credit Societies (PACS) have been selected by the oil marketing companies for taking up retail dealerships of petrol and diesel pumps. In a written reply in the Lok Sabha, Minister of Cooperation Amit Shah informed that the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas has revised its guidelines to prioritise PACS in this regard.
He said the PACS has
also been given a one-time option to convert their wholesale consumer pumps into retail outlets. The minister further said an MoU was signed between NABARD and CSC e-governance services limited to enable PACS to provide more than 300 e-services being delivered by the Common Service Centres, and currently over 42 thousand PACS in 33 states are functioning as CSCs.
