In Madhya Pradesh, 2932 candidates have been left in the fray after withdrawal of nominations for assembly elections. The state will go to polls on the 28th of this month to elect a new 230-member assembly. 

"According to the official information, the highest number of candidates are 158 in Rewa district and 13 is the lowest number in Alirazpur district after the withdrawal of nomination in the assembly elections. 

Meanwhile, the Election Commission conducted an extensive review of the preparations for assembly elections in 51 districts of 10 divisions of state during the two-day



visit. 

Chief Election Commissioner O.P. Rawat, Commissioner duo,  Sunil Arora and Ashok Lavasa also issued guidelines regarding SVEEP activities, voting percentage, security arrangements, proceedings of the investigating teams and counting of votes in the assembly elections. 

The Commission issued instructions for a widespread campaign for independent, fair, peaceful, accessible, credible, moral polling and transparent elections. The commission has also made arrangements to webcast polling process of 14 thousand booths to ensure free and fare elections.
