Three militants were killed in an encounter in Budgam on Wednesday morning, ANI reported, after security forces cordoned off the area the previous evening.
An encounter had broken out on Tuesday evening after security forces received intelligence inputs about the presence of militants in the area, a police official who refused to be
identified said.
A cordon-and-search operation was launched in a village in Magam area of central Kashmir's Budgam district, and local reports said two militants were trapped by late night.
"There were some firing shots as the operation was launched. It is not yet clear who fired," an official at PCR Budgam said.
