At least five people were killed, and 28 people were rescued after a three-storey building collapsed in Transport Nagar in Lucknow on Saturday evening.
Several people are still feared trapped under the debris, officials said.
Speaking about the incident, Lucknow Police Commissioner Roshan Jacob informed that five bodies have been recovered so far, while 28 people have been safely rescued from the rubble of the building that collapsed in the Transport Nagar area.
A truck, which was parked near
the building, was also crushed due to the collapse of the building. The incident occurred at around 5 pm. The building was being used as a godown, officials said.
Teams from the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), the fire department, the police and the revenue department are present at the spot.
The injured have been admitted to the hospital and rescue operations are on.
The reason behind the collapse of the building is not yet known, officials said.
