A 32-year-old man, described depressed, attempted suicide by shooting in the chest at his Dadar residence on Wednesday night. The police said it may book the man's parents for negligence since the victim, Vijayjeet Bahadur Singh, used his father's licensed revolver for shooting himself.
The Dadar police said Singh, who worked as a site supevisor till some years ago, was unemployed and suffered from depression. "He was undergoing psychiatric treatmnet too," said a senior police officer, adding, that Singh has not been booked for attempted suicide since Section 309 of the IPC has been decriminalised.
A resident of Shri Sai Complex in Dadar (west), Singh was alone in the room when he took his father's revolve and shot in the right side of his chest. Heaing gunshot, others ran for help and found him bleeding profussely. He was rushed to Bandra's Leelavati Hospital and admitted

"His father worked for a private firm and was also office-bearer of a labor union. Duing those days, he was granted license for revolver. Now we may question him about his role. Its negligence on his part for not keeping the weapon in locked cupboard and or negelected the safety point," said an officer, adding the lincese may be annuled. Singh has three daughters and a son.
