In Uttar Pradesh, the Election
Commission has informed that names of as many as 32(point)26 lakh voters have
been removed from the electoral roll across the state.
Chief Electoral Officer T Venkatesh said overall strength of voters in the
state stands at 14.12 crore. The total number of voters in the age-group of
18-19 years is
24.53 lakh. During the revision period, names of 20.57 lakh such
voters were added.
Reports quoting ECI that as many as 14.99 lakh voters had shifted from
their respective addresses as mentioned in the EPIC, while 11.90 lakh voters
had died. During the revision, 8.83 lakh entries in the voter list were corrected.
