In Punjab, after the withdrawal of nominations for Lok Sabha elections, now a total of 328 candidates are in the fray. A total of 466 candidates had filed 598 nomination papers. Voting in the state is to be held on June 1st in the seventh and last phase of Lok Sabha elections.
This is the first time in the electoral battle of Lok Sabha elections in the state that such a large number of candidates have entered the electoral battle in 13 all constituencies. Earlier, in the 2019
elections, this number was 278 while in the 2014 elections, this number was 253. This time the total, out of 328 candidates, 302 are male and only 26 are female candidates.
The total number of candidates in the Ludhiana constituency is 43 which is the highest in the state while the least 14 candidates are in the Fatehgarh Sahib reserved constituency. Now the election campaign is expected to gain momentum in the coming days.
