350 gas cylinders explode in Vizag; no casualties reported

Visakhapatnam: Around 350 gas cylinders exploded on Wednesday midnight after the truck carrying them rammed into a tree in a bid to save a man who came in front of the truck suddenly. The incident took place around 11:45 pm near the Anakapally-Srikakulam national highway.

The truck driver said that he lost control and rammed into a tree after the person suddenly came in front of



the truck, and later jumped out of the truck to save his life. Eyewitnesses said that the sound of the explosion was audible for kilometre and added that they saw the gas cylinders flying in the air after they exploded one by one.

The police reached the spot with four fire tenders to douse the flames. The fire fighters fought until 4 am to bring the fire under control.
