351st birth anniversary celebrations of Guru Govind Singh, the 10th Guru of Sikhs, will begin today in Patna, Bihar. Elaborate arrangements have been made for three-day Prakash Parv or birth anniversary at the Takhat Harimandir Shaeb, birth place of Guru Govind Singh at Patna City by the Bihar government and Gurudwara Parbandhak Committee.
State government has erected a massive Tent City for lodging and fooding of Sikh devotees who are coming from different parts of the country and abroad including Punjab, Haryana and Rajasthan. A makeshift Gurudwara and Durbar Hall has been made at Tent City where the Akhand Path, Shabad Kirtan and other religious rituals take place.
Patna District administration said
so far 50,000 devotees have arrived in Patna City to take part in the celebrations. They said more than 4 lakh devotees are expected to visit the place. Several special trains are being run by railways for devotees from different stations to Patna Sahib station.
The celebrations has been nomenclatured Shukarana Samahroh, marking the concluding ceremony of 350th birth anniversary of warrior Guru, which began January this year. Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar will inaugurate the function today at Patna. Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amrinder Singh, Union ministers Hardeep Singh Puri, SS Ahulwalia, Deputy Chief Minister of Bihar Sushil Kumar Modi and other dignitaries will also attend the function.
