In Uttar Pradesh, the election commission is making all arrangements for the third phase of elections on 59 seats. Polling parties will be dispatched to their respective polling centres today.  In the wake of the Covid pandemic, all necessary arrangements are being made for free and fair polling. The State is going to polls in seven phases from 10 February to 7th March.

Punjab will go to polls tomorrow to elect a new assembly. Voting for all 117 seats will be held in a single phase. The Punjab government has declared February 20, the polling day in the state, as a paid holiday.

It said, the date of polling will be a paid holiday in respect of all persons employed in any business, trade, industrial undertaking or any other establishment situated in Punjab. We spoke to the Chief Electoral Officer of Punjab, S Karuna Raju about tomorrow's polling.

Poll preparedness



is almost complete for the Assembly election going to be held tomorrow. In various districts of the state the last randomisation of Polling staff was completed. In the presence of poll observers and Returning Officers yesi. The polling staff will be sent to the polling stations today.

The office of Chief Electoral Officer informed that 24 thousand 740 polling stations have been set up in 14 thousand 684 polling locations. Out of which 2 thousand 13 polling stations on one thousand 51 polling locations are identified as critical.

To ensure free and fair poll minimum half-section of Central Armed Police Forces and  Punjab Police are being deployed at critical polling locations. The webcasting will also be done. Around 2 crore 15 lakh electors of the state vote for 1304 candidates left in fray to elect 117 members of the legislative assembly.
