Mumbai: The 40th edition of Hunar Haat begins today in Mumbai. The 12-day event organized by the Union Ministry of Minority Affairs is aimed at providing exposure and employment opportunities to artisans, craftsmen and traditional culinary experts from across the country. The event held in Bandra Kurla Complex in sururban area of Mumbai will be open for public from today.

The event will be formally inaugurated tomorrow morning by Union Minister for Information and Broadcasting Anurag Thakur while Union Ministry for Minority Affairs Muktar Abbas Naqvi will be Chief Guest on the occasion. For the next 12 days i. e. till 27th April people in Mumbai will see the skill of various craftsmen and artisans from across the country. With the tag line 'Confluence of Craft, Cuisine and Culture', Hunar Haat aims to strengthen the 'Vocal for Local' campaign.

The event will display everything from daily necessities to big and splendid artworks. Besides, one can tickle



his taste buds by the specially served traditional delicious dishes and delicacies from different states. Litti-Chokha from Bihar, Rajasthan’s Dal Bati Churma, Rabri-Jalebi from Haryana, Chaat from Delhi and Indore’s Poha will be available in the event with other veg and non- veg foods. The entry to Hunar Haat, which runs from 10 am to 10 pm, is completely free.

Every day in the evening many well known Bollywood personalities will perform in the event. Ghazal maestro Pankaj Udhas, famous playback singer Suresh Wadkar, Amit Kumar, Sudesh Bhosle, Daler Mehndi, Shabbir Kumar, Shailendra Singh, Altaf Raja and many other renowned singers will showcase their singing skills on the stage of Hunar Haat. 

Apart from music and cultural events, three shows of the famous Rambo International Circus will be organized every day in which around 25 artists will entertain the visitors by performing amazing feats.
