RJD chief Lalu Prasad Yadav’s younger son Tejaswi Yadav, who is the road construction minister here, recently made a WhatsApp number public so that people could send their complaints related to poor condition of roads.
Four months down the line, the most eligible bachelor politician of Bihar — who is also the state deputy chief minister — has been flooded with 44,000 marriage proposals on the number.“Of the 47,000 messages received since June this year, 44,000 are from girls showering encomiums on the young deputy chief minister and expressing their willingness to tie the nuptial knot,” informed a source close to him.
Most of the girls swooning over Tejaswi’s charm mistook the WhatsApp number (9470001346) provided by the department as his personal one. As a result, it was flooded with messages from women not only from Bihar but also from Maharashtra, Gujarat, Delhi, Punjab and Haryana.
One such woman, who is a graduate from a prestigious college in Delhi,

wrote, “I will get married to you only.” Another sent a message that her ‘gotra’ was superior but still she would like to marry him. “In gotra, I am superior. However, I am ready to marry you….and eager to continue my career in politics along with you.”. Yet another girl from Aurangabad messaged, “I am full of praise for your smile and leadership. I want to marry you.”
Twenty six-year-old Tejaswi blushed when asked to confirm about such proposals. “I do not personally handle the department’s WhatsApp number as there is a team to do this. The number was made public to encourage people to lodge their complaints about road condition. But anyway, it’s nice to hear appreciation from people,” he said and added that people should avoid sending unnecessary messages.
When Lalu was confronted with this news, the RJD supremo told local media: “I have heard about it. If the girl is good, caste will not be an issue for my son.”
