In Kerala, bringing great respite, 46 people with symptoms of Nipah tested negative on Wednesday.
State Health Minister Veena George said that the Kozhikode is almost out of a serious nipah outbreak. The minister said that samples of all close contacts of a boy who died due to Nipah on Sunday, including his parents and health workers, turned negative, adding that
the government would maintain strict vigil for three more weeks.
Around 50 people with symptoms are still in the hospital and 190 persons are under observation. House to house surveys have been completed covering 4995 households in the region. Meanwhile, studies are ongoing for finding the source of infection.
