In Maharashtra, a Thane court has granted bail to 47 people, arrested in the Palghar mob lynching case. Advocates Amrut Adhikari and Atul Patil, who appeared for the applicants, submitted in the court that their clients had no role in the incident and the police had arrested them on mere suspicion.
Accepting the plea, District Judge P P Jadhav
ordered that the accused be released on a surety of 15,000 rupees each. The case dates back to April this year, when two sadhus were lynched to death in Palghar district. The state CID has already filed a chargesheet in the case. A total of 229 people had been arrested in the case while bail has been granted to 133 people so far.
