The fourth India-UK Energy Dialogue, co-chaired by Power Minister Manohar Lal and the UK’s Secretary for Energy Security and Net Zero, Ed Miliband, was held in New Delhi yesterday.
The dialogue focused on reviewing the progress made in the energy sectors of both nations, including power and renewable energy. The Ministers underscored the importance of ensuring that the energy transition and economic growth proceed together while maintaining affordable and clean energy access for all.
The Ministers emphasised the importance of ensuring energy security and sustainable development. They
highlighted the need to expand cooperation in areas such as power distribution, sector reforms, industrial energy efficiency and decarbonization, and electric mobility, while exploring new opportunities in emerging fields.
The Ministers were pleased to announce the launch of Phase-2 of the India-UK bilateral Accelerating Smart Power and Renewable Energy in India, ASPIRE programme. This phase will aim to provide technical support to ensure round-the-clock power supply, expand renewable energy initiatives, and accelerate industrial energy efficiency and decarbonization.
