50 percent of India's energy production will be met by non-fossil fuel by 2030: Narendra Modi

Gandhinagar: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has said that by 2030, 50 percent of India's energy production will be met by non-fossil fuel, and by 2070 it plans 'Net Zero'. Mr Modi said that a silent revolution is taking shape in India with rising demand for electric vehicles (EV). He said, state and central governments have extended incentives and subsidies for the EV sector.

Prime Minister was addressing a function at Gandhinagar to mark on the completion of 40 years of Suzuki Motor Corp in India. Remembering the first interaction with Suzuki's Chairman 13 years ago, Mr Modi said when the Suzuki Chairman showed interest in setting up a plant in Gujarat, he was confident that with each passing year



the company will come to know how much Gujarat is committed to development. 

The Prime Minister said, he wanted to create a mini-Japan in Gujarat to provide the Japanese experience back home.

Meanwhile, Suzuki Motor Corporation president Toshihiro Suzuki has announced the setting up of a new company, Suzuki R&D Centre India, a wholly-owned arm of Suzuki Japan. He said the Japanese company aims to strengthen its R&D competitiveness and capabilities in new fields of technologies not only for India but also for the global markets. Mr Suzuki said, over the last 40 years. India has become the group’s most important market.
