In Odisha, 58
pharmaceutical companies have been blacklisted for supplying sub-standard
medicines since 2005. In response to a question of BJP legislator Dilip Ray in
the State
Assembly, Health Minister Atanu Sabyasachi Nayak yesterday said 133
types of medicines supplied to the government hospitals by 168 companies were
found sub standard during the period. Sources said sample tests are conducted
by an accredited laboratory before bulk purchase of medicines are made by
government-run hospitals.
