64 Children died due to Encephalitis in Bihar during last 12 days

In Bihar, 64 children have died due to Encephalitis during the last 12 days.  Maximum casualties have been reported from Muzaffarpur.

82 children are undergoing treatment in SriKrishna Medical College Hospital and Kejariwal Hospital in Muzaffarpur. Condition of eight children is critical. Casualties have been reported from Samastipur and Vaishali districts.

A multi-specialist high-level team from the Centre reached at Muzaffarpur to assist



the state government in the containment and management of rising cases of Acute Encephalitis Syndrome.

The team held discussions with top officials of the state government. The team of experts visited Sri Krishna Medical College Hospital and Kejriwal Hospital, Muzaffarpur where maximum deaths have been reported.

They reviewed the situation. The team has sent a preliminary report to the Health Ministry.
