At least 7 people died and 50 others were injured in an explosion in the bustling commercial area of Moghbazar in the capital city Dhaka on Sunday evening, reported the official news agency .
Buses, cars and pedestrians on the road nearby during the time of the blast suffered damages and injuries.
The Commissioner of Dhaka metropolitan police (DMP) Md Shafiqul Islam told News agency that seven buildings were damaged in the blast in which 7 people were killed.
The
fire service and police carried out drives to recover the victims of the accident. The injured have been shifted to the Dhaka Medical College Hospital and Sheikh Hasina National Institute of Burn and plastic surgery and other hospitals in the city. The explosion took place in a multi-story building but the reason behind the blast could not be known immediately.
However, police officials suspect that the explosion took place due to gas leakage and it does not look like an act of sabotage. Investigation is continuing.
