74.21 per cent polling was reported at the bypoll held yesterday for the Puthupally Assembly constituency in Kerala. The Puthupally bypoll assumes political significance as it will decide the successor of the former Chief Minister and Congress leader Oommen Chandy who had represented the constituency for a record 53 years



at a stretch.

The main contest is between Chandy Oommen of the UDF, Jake C Thomas of the LDF, and NDA's Lijin Lal.

Counting of votes will be held on Friday, the coming 8th at Baselios College in Kottayam.
