7th Edition of 'India Water Impact Summit' is underway in New Delhi

The 7th Edition of the India Water Impact Summit is underway in the National Capital. In the three-day Summit, experts from the country and abroad are discussing ways to protect the small rivers in large river basins. The theme of the Summit is ‘Restoration and Conservation of Small Rivers in a Large Basin’ with emphasis on the select aspects of ‘Mapping and Convergence of 5Ps’ - People, Policy, Plan, Programme, and Project. The Summit aims at giving an insight into the potential causes for divergence and formulating strategy to achieve



convergence.

Addressing the inauguration session, Jal Shakti Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat said deliberations on issues of water and rivers is equivalent to discussing the future of human beings and the crisis facing them. He said that the way the Namami Gange Mission has worked for the conservation of rivers in the last 7 years is commendable. 

The Minister said, Namami Gange has become a mass movement and people from all walks of life are contributing to this cause in their own way. The summit will conclude tomorrow.
