85 percent turnout for Palair by-polls

The Palair by-poll that was held on Monday registered 85.48 percent polling which is less compared to 90 percent in the last election.

A total of 248 polling booths were set up in four mandals of Palair Assembly constituency -Thirumalayapalem, Koosumanchi, Khammam, Rural. Despite the high temperatures, the Election Commission allowed the voters who patiently waited in polling queues, to cast their votes till 6 PM.

class="MsoNormal" style="margin-bottom: 0.0001pt; text-align: justify;">The Palair by-poll has Thummala Nageshwara Rao from TRS party, Ramreddy Sucharitha Reddy from Congress party and Pothineni Sudharshan Rao from CPM contesting in the election while TDP and YSRCP extended their support to the Congress candidate.

The result for the by-polls will be announced on May 19.
